| Streamyx Gets Its One-Millionth Customer |
KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 (Bernama) -- Telekom Malaysia Bhd today hit its one-millionth broadband customer with the recent launch of the Streamyx 4.0Mbps package and the extension of coverage for Streamyx 2.0Mbps.
"With the rollout of this package, we now provide the fastest broadband service in Malaysia and our one-millionth subscriber is proof that we also have the largest customer base," its Malaysia Business chief executive officer Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa said in a statement today.
Streamyx, introduced in April 2001, reached its 100,000th customer in December 2003 and hit the half million mark at the end of 2005.
He said the latest achievement demonstrates the company's commitment to provide broadband internet access to everyone in Malaysia in line with the National Broadband Plan and the MyICMS 886 strategy.
"We want to encourage Malaysians to adopt the digital lifestyle by making broadband accessible, affordable, attractive and ubiquitous to them," added Zamzamzairani.
To mark its achievement, Telekom Malaysia honoured one-millionth customer Iskandar Syah Ismail with a surprise breakfast treat with Suki, the winner of the 'One-in-a-Million' reality show. He also took home a laptop computer.
It named Ng Win Wei as the Most Loyal Streamyx Customer. She, too, received a laptop computer plus insurance coverage and a three-month gym membership, among others.
